Electronic Looping for Cello and Violin

Saturday

2:00-3:00PM

Location: Buddy MacMaster Room 37

Instructor: Rob Thomas (cello, violin)

Style: Jazz Rock World

Take a turn with Rob’s Loop Station and effects pedals, and learn how to play a duet (or even a trio or quartet) with yourself! Looping pedals are a way to record multiple, layered tracks - live - using your feet.  Loopers can be used in live performance as well as being the ultimate practice tool - like a recording studio controlled by your toes.  In the early 1990s, dedicated digital devices were invented for use in live looping, and now many hardware loopers exist, some in rack unit form, but primarily as effect pedals. The musical loop is one of the most important features of video game music.
